Georgia held both its Republican and Democratic primaries today, and things did not go smoothly in many of the state’s bluer districts. [This was, of course, by design.] As it’s late, I’d just like to leave you with the following five Twitter posts. If, after considering them, you should find yourself agreeing with me that the people of Georgia (and the United States) deserve better, I’d ask that you please consider making a donation to Fair Fight, the non-profit started by Stacey Abrams to promote fair elections in Georgia and around the country. [Abrams, by the way, called today’s election “a disaster that was imminently preventable.”]
Closed polling places. Opposition to vote by mail and early vote. Purging voter rolls. Unnecessary photo ID. Gerrymandering. Here’s the deal: many Republicans don’t want certain people to vote. They want to pick their voters. Vote for change in November – up and down the ballot. https://t.co/49PsNOiZi5

This is not a democracy. It's also the Republican strategy for November. https://t.co/ijvFH7HiHI

Georgians deserve better. I voted today bc of absentee ballot defects. From Jasper to Fulton to Coffee & Chatham, long lines, inoperable machines & under-resourced communities are being hurt. @GaSecofState owns this disaster. He must stop finger-pointing and fix it. #gapol

On the left is Piedmont Park, a Democratic stronghold with a 4-hour line to vote.
On the right is Chastain Park, located in Atlanta’s whitest and most conservative precinct. There is literally no line.

Anita Heard, 80, was one of the first in line to vote at 6 am & waited for hours to cast her ballot.
Sadly, she is not alone. Voters all over Georgia are experiencing long lines & broken voting machines.
This is voter suppression in action.pic.twitter.com/QRWqu4U2QX
